Texas A&M-Corpus Christi beats Houston 81-78 in OT

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (AP) — Demond Watt scored 17 points, including the go-ahead free throw in overtime, to lift Texas A&M-Corpus Christi to an 81-78 victory over Houston Saturday night.

Terence Jones, who had 16 points and eight assists for the winners, made a pair of free throws with 15 seconds to close out the scoring. Horace Bond and Justin Reynolds added 14 points apiece for the Islanders (4-6). Bond blocked Houston’s final shot attempt in overtime.

Adam Brown led the Cougars (6-5) with 16 points. Houston trailed most of the way and by as many as 14 points, but went on a 10-0 run to take a 68-66 lead with 3:15 to play.

Neither team could score in regulation after Chris Mast’s basket for Texas A&M-Corpus Christi with 1:30 to play made it 72-72.
