LA GRANDE, Ore. (AP) — A biologist with the Oregon Department of Fish and Game is shedding new light on wolf behavior.
The La Grande Observer says biologist Russ Morgan recently addressed a meeting of the Union/Wallowa county chapter of the Oregon Hunters Association. Morgan is Fish and Game’s wolf program coordinator.
He says wolf kills can at first be perplexing because the prey animal can appear not to have a scratch. But, he says, a close examination of the animal reveals the truth.
Morgan says wolves kill with multiple bites that often do not break an animal’s skin. They do, however, cause massive internal bleeding.
