MUNCIE, Ind. (AP) — Ball State has hired Pete Lembo to take over its football program.
Cardinals athletic director Tom Collins made the announcement Sunday on the school’s website after Elon sent out a release saying Lembo had resigned to take the Ball State job.
Lembo went 35-22 in five seasons with the Phoenix, including a 24-14 Southern Conference mark. His teams won seven games against top-25 foes in the Football Championship Subdivision. In 2009, Elon posted a 9-3 overall record and earned the school’s first FCS playoff berth.
Ball State fired Stan Parrish last month after the Cardinals finished 4-8, their second straight losing season after making two consecutive bowl appearances for the first time in school history.
