TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) — Reese Holliday’s double-double Saturday led his team to its own double — a two-game winning streak achieved with a 75-63 victory over Florida Gulf Coast.
The Rockets (2-9), who opened with nine consecutive losses, trailed by 14 in the first half and rallied in the second after Florida Gulf Coast led 37-30 at halftime.
Toledo outscored the Eagles 45-26 in the game’s final 20 minutes, taking the lead for good when Anthony Wright’s 3-pointer with 6:08 left broke a 56-all tie. The Eagles (2-7) lost their sixth in a row.
The Rockets benefited from Holliday’s second consecutive double-double, 11 points and 13 rebounds, which followed the 16 points and 10 rebounds the freshman guard recorded against Valparaiso on Dec. 11.
