Fla. Gulf Coast beats North Carolina Central 87-68

FORT MYERS, Fla. (AP) — Reed Baker scored 25 points and Anthony Banks added 21 to lead Florida Gulf Coast past North Carolina Central 87-68 on Tuesday.

FGCU (3-7) finished 34 of 60 from the field (56.7 percent), including 11 for 21 from 3-point range (52.4 percent).

Marlon Rivera dished out a career-high 12 assists for FGCU, which snapped a six-game losing streak.

N.C. Central trailed 39-28 at halftime despite going 12 for 25 from the floor (48 percent) in the opening half. FGCU stretched its lead to as many as 26, 75-49, with 6:35 left to play.

Chase Fieler and Hunter Miller added 11 points apiece for FGCU, which outrebounded N.C. Central 38-23.

Landon Clement scored 16 points and C.J. Wilkerson added 15 for N.C. Central (4-6), which has lost three in a row after a three-game winning streak.

N.C. Central has lost by an average of 18.7 points during its three-game losing streak.
