YAKIMA, Wash. (AP) — Police say a driver was wounded during an attempted carjacking in Yakima.

Officers found the 24-year-old victim Tuesday night in his car at an intersection with a wound in the hip. He was treated at a hospital and is expected to recover.

Police say the victim had been driving in an alley when he was approached by a man with a gun who demanded the car. When the driver refused, he was shot. The gunman ran off on foot.
