PHOENIX (AP) — The Phoenix Suns have released center Earl Barron after a brief stint with the team.

Barron signed on Nov. 16 after starting center Robin Lopez went down with a sprained knee. The four-year veteran appeared in 12 games, including six starts, and averaged 3.0 points and 3.3 rebounds.

Barron became expendable when Lopez returned last week and the Suns picked up Marcin Gortat as part of a six-player trade with Orlando on Saturday.
