SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — After two mistrials, Vicente Ruiz has been convicted of the 1987 slayings of five men in a Pasco garage.

A jury in Spokane found him guilty Wednesday morning of five counts of aggravated first-degree murder and one count of attempted murder.

The 46-year-old Ruiz did not take the witness stand. His lawyers say it’s a case of mistaken identity.

The case was moved to Spokane after two mistrials in Franklin County.

Ruiz faces a life sentence for going into Medina’s Body Shop on Oct. 13, 1987, and opening fire on six men.
