SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — Spokane County prosecutors are recommending a 15-year prison sentence for Jeffrey Canino who pleaded guilty Tuesday to second-degree murder in the stabbing death of his wife.

KHQ reports he’ll be sentenced Jan. 21.

Prosecutors say he killed his wife Michelle in December of last year in front of their 11-year-old son and then stabbed himself.

The boy told investigators his father stabbed his mother because she was going to file for divorce and he was depressed over losing his job.
