Driver knocks hole in Jantzen Beach store

Woman arrested for DUI after crash

At 4:00 p.m. today, December 22, 2010, Portland Police Officers were called to the Jantzen Beach Center after 911 callers reported that a vehicle was driven into a building. When Officers arrived they learned 50-year-old Maria Figueroa drove her vehicle into the Staples store in the 1700 block of North Jantzen Avenue breaking the front plate glass window.

After contacting Figueroa, officers suspected she was driving while impaired and took her into custody for further investigation. Traffic Investigators determined that Figueroa was driving while impaired and charged her with Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants and Reckless Driving. Figueroa was booked into the downtown Multnomah County Facility.
