Growing Groceries Mentor Program: Now seeking food garden mentors. A collaborative effort focused on training and linking experienced gardeners to serve as mentors in community-based garden programs. Training will take place over four months with one training session per month from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Jan. 8, Feb. 12, March 12 and April 9. Mentors must attend all four training sessions. Bring a sack lunch to each session. Growing Groceries mentors will volunteer with organizations such as neighborhood associations, schools, faith-based and emergency food organizations and community garden sites, as well as serving as technical resources and garden champions. VanRidge Garden Club meeting: 10 a.m. Jan. 17, Pleasant View Church of the Nazarene, 801 N.E. 194th St., Ridgefield. Following the business meeting the winner of the annual VanRidge scholarship to Clark College will be announced. Also, Mary Jones of Scented Acres, a shop, farm and bazaar proprietor, will talk about lavender and related subjects.
