o Kids Club, Feeding Winter Birds: 11 a.m. Jan. 8. Learn about the birds that stay in the winter and what kinds of food we should be feeding them. Make a bird feeder for them, $5 per child. Registration required. 360-225-8750.

o Winter Silhouettes in Bonsai: 11 a.m. Jan. 15. Consider how you can define your deciduous bonsai to enhance its winter silhouette.

o Tsugawa Bonsai Group: 1 p.m. Jan. 15. All skill levels are welcome. Learn tips and techniques from experienced bonsai enthusiasts.

Growing Groceries Mentor Program: Now seeking food garden mentors. A collaborative effort focused on training and linking experienced gardeners to serve as mentors in community-based garden programs. Training will take place over four months with one training session per month from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Jan. 8, Feb. 12, March 12 and April 9. Mentors must attend all four training sessions. Bring a sack lunch to each session. Growing Groceries mentors will volunteer with organizations such as neighborhood associations, schools, faith-based and emergency food organizations and community garden sites, as well as serving as technical resources and garden champions. Urban Farmers Co-op Information Session: 6:30 to 8 p.m. Jan. 24 and Feb. 7 at Minehaha Grange Hall, 4905 N.E. St. Johns Blvd., Vancouver. Do you have a green thumb and want to sell produce but don’t know where to start? Urban Farmers Co-op is offering urban growers a gateway to the marketplace by providing a staffed vendor booth along with accounting and marketing management for co-op members’ produce. * 360-909-9012.

VanRidge Garden Club meeting: 10 a.m. Jan. 17, Pleasant View Church of the Nazarene, 801 N.E. 194th St., Ridgefield. Following the business meeting the winner of the annual VanRidge scholarship to Clark College will be announced. Also, Mary Jones of Scented Acres, a shop, farm and bazaar proprietor, will talk about lavender and related subjects.
