BSC ticket scam costs Ore. man hundreds

MEDFORD, Ore. (AP) — A Medford man is out more than $900 after he bought what he thought were two tickets to the BCS National Championship game between the Oregon Ducks and the Auburn Tigers.

The wire transfer he sent to Florida was real, but the tickets weren’t.

The Mail Tribune reports the scam began when the man — whom police didn’t identify — contacted a seller on Craigslist who promised the tickets for $850 and a fee.

The man wired the money on Dec. 12, then waited for the tickets to arrive by mail the next day. They never did.

Medford police detective Scott Clauson says he expects more such attempts at scams because of the importance of the game.

Oregon plays Auburn on Jan. 10.
