ADELAIDE, Australia (AP) — Australian cycling star Robbie McEwen will make his debut for Lance Armstrong’s Team RadioShack at next month’s Tour Down Under, the first event of the 2011 ProTour season.

McEwen joins an already strong lineup that includes seven-time Tour de France-winner Armstrong –competing in the Australian race for the third straight year — and former Swiss national champion Gregory Rast.

Race director Mike Turtur says “McEwen has won more stages of our race than anyone else and is a big favorite with the fans.”

The 38-year-old McEwen has won 12 stages on the Tour de France and is a three-time winner of the Tour’s green jersey as top sprinter.

The Tour Down Under will be raced in South Australia state from Jan. 16-23.
