FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) — Logan Mankins prefers to focus on the New England Patriots next opponent and not on being selected to his third Pro Bowl.
The left guard was among six Patriots chosen Tuesday night, the most of any AFC team. But he wants the team to prepare to beat the Miami Dolphins on Sunday and go into the playoffs on a roll. The Patriots have clinched homefield advantage throughout the conference playoffs.
Coach Bill Belichick praised Mankins on Wednesday as a smart, tough player. Mankins has started all eight games since missing the first seven in a contract dispute. Other Patriots chosen for the Pro Bowl were quarterback Tom Brady, defensive lineman Vince Wilfork, linebacker Jerod Mayo, cornerback Devin McCourty and safety Brandon Meriweather.
