SEATTLE (AP) — Three Washington state troopers were involved in accidents overnight in King County. Two of them were injured.

A state trooper was hit by a pickup truck early Thursday while investigating another accident on Interstate 405. The officer, who has not been identified, has been treated for minor injuries.

The State Patrol says 46-year-old Stephen Merrill of Burien has been arrested and booked into King County jail under investigation of driving under the influence of drugs.

Seven hours earlier on Wednesday night, another trooper’s car collided with a vehicle that was spinning out of control on State Route 167. He and the driver of the other car were taken to Valley Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

The State Patrol says a third trooper responding to the accident on State Route 167 was involved in a crash nearby.
