EUGENE, Ore. (AP) — Oregon running back LaMichael James, a Heisman Trophy finalist, says he will return to the Ducks next season.
James repeatedly had suggested he would forgo entering the draft early. Thursday’s announcement makes it official.
James says he came to Oregon to get an education, as well as play football.
The sophomore rushed for 1,682 yards this season for an average of 152.9 yards a game.
The second-ranked Ducks play No. 1 Auburn in the national championship game in Glendale, Ariz. on Jan. 10.
