Quinnipiac defeats Boston University 82-81

BOSTON (AP) — Justin Rutty scored 26 points and pulled down 10 rebounds to lead Quinnipiac to an 82-81 victory over Boston University on Wednesday night.

The Bobcats (9-2) trailed 81-80 before a tip-in from Dominique Langston with 3 seconds left sealed the win for Quinnipiac.

John Holland’s 3-point attempt rimmed out at the buzzer as the Terriers (5-8) lost for the fifth time in their last six contests.

Holland finished with 31 points and nine rebounds to lead Boston U., while Jake O’Brien scored 18, D.J. Irving 14 and Darryl Partin 10 in the loss.

Quinnipiac, which leads the nation in rebounds per game (45.2), pulled down 46 rebounds and outscored the Terriers 44-28 in the paint.

Lance Brown scored 13 points, Langston had 12 and James Johnson 11 for the Bobcats, who have won five straight.

The second half featured eight ties and seven lead changes as both teams led by at least five.
