JERUSALEM (AP) — The Israeli army says it has warned its top officers to be on guard when traveling abroad following the assassination of a Hamas commander in Dubai.

Although Israel has not said whether it was involved, Hamas has accused Israel of carrying out the slaying and vowed revenge.

Military officials said Monday it fears Hamas operatives could try to capture senior officers or military attaches traveling outside the country. It has ordered its officers to be on alert.

The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were discussing a sensitive security matter.
