EVERETT, Wash. (AP) — Police have identified a man suspected of sending a stolen pickup into a freight train at Stanwood, causing it to derail.

The Daily Herald of Everett reports a search warrant filed in Snohomish County Superior Court identifies the man as a convicted felon with a history of car theft.

A weight was used to hold down the gas pedal on Jan. 27 so the truck would hit the train.

The pickup had been stolen from a nearby farm. The train dragged it about half a mile.

One railroad car derailed, but there was no injury or spill.

The Burlington Northern Santa Fe track was closed about nine hours, delaying a half-dozen trains.
