PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — An 80-year-old man was arrested early New Year’s morning after police said he threatened people with a handgun in the parking lot of Chinook Winds Casino.

Lincoln City police say Robert L. Harder of Sweet Home was charged with unlawful use of a weapon, reckless endangering, unlawful possession of a firearm, menacing and pointing a firearm at another.

Police at around 2 a.m. responded to a report of a man shooting a gun in the casino parking lot. Sgt. Jeffrey G. Winn says Harder while talking to another man pulled out a handgun, pointed the gun at two people and fired once from close range.

Winn says the victim knocked the gun out of Harder’s hand.

Harder was subdued by casino security officers and lodged in the Lincoln County Jail.
