TACOMA, Wash. (AP) — Thousands of law officers and members of the public are expected to attend the memorial service in the Tacoma Dome for Pierce County sheriff’s Deputy Kent Mundell.
The service begins at 1 p.m. Tuesday and is expected to last three hours. A procession of police cars to the Tacoma Dome is scheduled to start at 10 a.m. in Puyallup.
Mundell was fatally shot Dec. 21 while responding to a domestic violence call near Eatonville. He died a week later when he was taken off life support at a Seattle hospital. He was the sixth law officer killed in two months in Pierce County and Seattle.
Mundell was able to return fire and kill the man who shot him, David Crable. Another deputy, Sgt. Nick Hausner was wounded in the neck in the shootout.
