EVERETT, Wash. (AP) — Detectives and crime scene investigators are searching the south Everett apartment of a woman who likely has been missing for up to a week.

Snohomish County sheriff’s spokeswoman Rebecca Hover says the disappearance of 35-year-old Sherry Harlan is suspicious.

A co-worker called 911 Tuesday to report she had missed several shifts. Hover said unusual circumstances prompted detectives to get a search warrant for the apartment where Harlan lived alone.

KIRO-TV reports a co-worker who went to the apartment reported the strong smell of bleach and that portions of the bedroom carpet had been cut out.

Harlan’s car also is missing and deputies are looking for the 1989 blue-gray Nissan Sentra, Washington license 928-RVN.
