JACKSON, Wyo. (AP) — Wildlife officials say hunters bagged fewer bison in the Bridger-Teton National Forest and National Elk Refuge this year.

The bison hunting season began Sept. 1 and ended Sunday. During that time, about 140 of the animals were killed, compared to 258 bison last season.

Wyoming Game and Fish Department wildlife manager Doug Brimeyer says the hunt won’t likely cut into next year’s bison population.
