The First Independent Bank in Ridgefield was robbed at about 9:40 a.m.

The suspect passed a note to bank staff and fled with an undisclosed amount of cash, according to scanner traffic. He did not have a weapon, police say.

When police arrived, the suspect had fled.

The bank is located at 228 N. Simons St.

The suspect was described as a white male in his 30s with strawberry blond hair, dressed in blue jeans and a black baseball cap. He is believed to be about 6-foot-tall and about 190 pounds.
