Heavy rain brings flood warnings to Washington

SEATTLE (AP) — Heavy rain prompted the National Weather Service to issued flood warnings and watches for some rivers in Western Washington and the northeast corner of the state.

Forecasters expected 2-to-5 inches Friday for the Olympics and 3 inches for the Cascades.

The Weather Service in Seattle has issued flood warnings for the Skokomish River in Mason County and the Bogachiel River in Clallam County. Flood watches are in effect for most of the other counties in northwest Washington.

In addition, the Weather Service in Spokane has issued a flood warning for the northeast corner of the state and northernmost Idaho because of poor drainage from heavy rain and melting snow.
