PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — The National Weather Service ha issued a high surf advisory for the Washington and Oregon coasts.

The advisory is in effect through Monday evening for seas of about 25 feet on the Oregon coast. For Washington, seas are forecast to build to between 18 and 22 feet, with the advisory in effect until 6 a.m. Tuesday.

A high surf advisory means that rip currents and beach erosion can occur. People should stay off rocks and jetties and stay well back from the water’s edge.
