RATHDRUM, Idaho (AP) — The Rathdrum Police Department in northern Idaho has started a reserve officer program to assist the 13 full-time officers.

Police Chief Kevin Fuhr says the reserves can help with special events and patrolling.

He says three reserve officers are already in the program and two have been certified and have previous law enforcement experience.

Fuhr says the third reserve officer is expected to hit the streets in February after attending a state reserve academy.
