HENLEY, England (AP) — The Potomac Boat Club is out of the Thames Cup for club eights at the Henley Royal Regatta.

Potomac of Washington, D.C., lost by 1 1/4 lengths to New Zealand’s West End club in Saturday’s semifinals on the River Thames.

Genevra Stone from the Cambridge Boat Club qualified for Sunday’s final of the Princess Royal Cup for international single scullers. Stone’s opponent, defending champion Emma Twigg from New Zealand, was forced to withdraw because of illness.

Stone will face Mirka Knapkova from the Czech Republic, who beat British Olympic silver medallist Debbie Flood of local club Leander in the other semifinal.
