ST. LOUIS (AP) — Milwaukee Brewers leadoff man Rickie Weeks has been ejected for arguing a called third strike.

Weeks protested plate umpire John Hirshbeck’s call after striking for the second straight time against the St. Louis Cardinals’ Adam Wainwright to end the third inning Sunday.

Weeks gestured and said something to the umpire while leaving the batter’s box following what appeared to be a borderline pitch low and outside, then had to be headed off after striding toward Hirschbeck.

Joe Inglet replaced Weeks, who hit his fifth leadoff homer of the season on Saturday and was 3 for 14 in the series.
