Rezai beats Osterloh at Swedish Open

BASTAD, Sweden (AP) — Lilia Osterloh lost to Aravane Rezai in the first round of the Swedish Open on Monday.

The second-seeded Rezai beat the American 6-4, 6-2, at the clay-court WTA tournament.

Fifth-seeded Arantxa Parra Santonja also advanced, beating Estonia’s Kaia Kanepi 6-4, 7-5.

Renata Voracova beat Johanna Larsson 6-3, 2-6, 6-4 and Karolina Sprem beat Maria Elena Camerin 7-5, 6-2.

Also through to the second round are Akgul Amanmuradova, who came from behind to beat Mariana Duque Marino 6-7(5), 6-4, 6-0; and Tatjana Malek, who defeated Anastasia Rodionova 5-7, 6-3, 6-1.

Top-seeded Flavia Pennetta, who reached the semifinals last year, plays her first singles match on Tuesday.
