LEWISTON, Idaho (AP) — A northern Idaho man named a person of interest in his estranged wife’s disappearance has pleaded guilty to unlawful possession of a firearm in a separate case.
Charles A. Capone initially faced two federal firearms charges and pleaded innocent, but that changed Tuesday in U.S. District Court when Capone pleaded guilty to one of the charges as part of an agreement with prosecutors. The second count was dismissed.
Authorities say Capone told a friend he carried a gun while following his wife in February to determine whether she was seeing someone else. He was arrested on the gun charges in May.
Capone is the last known person to see his wife, 41-year-old Rachael Anderson of Clarkston, Wash., in April before she disappeared. He has not been charged in his wife’s disappearance, nor named a suspect.
