Signal upgrade eases traffic in E. Vancouver

Traffic on a major east Vancouver thoroughfare should flow a little more smoothly thanks to an upgrade of traffic signal timing along Southeast 192nd Avenue.

Installation of a fiber optics communications system enabled the city of Vancouver to implement a new signal coordination plan along 192nd, between southeast First and 41st streets. The total cost of the project was $156,785, with $100,000 awarded through a federal Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality Improvement Program grant.

Motorists on 192nd should notice improved traffic flow, although motorists approaching 192nd from side streets may notice slightly longer delays at traffic signals.
