NEWPORT, R.I. (AP) — Top seed Sam Querrey has been upset in the second round of the Hall of Fame Tennis Championships on Wednesday, extending the No. 1 seed’s run of never winning the title in the 34 years of the tournament.
Querrey, ranked 19th entering the week and a three-time winner on the tour this season, was beaten 6-4, 6-3 in just 47 minutes.
Dustin Brown won 33 of 34 of his first-serve points. It’s his first win over a top 20 player.
