TOUCHET, Wash. (AP) — A 24-year-old man drowned in the Walla Walla River at Touchet (TOO’-sheh).

Authorities says Joshua Zahl of Walla Walla had been drinking beer Wednesday before he jumped off a 14-foot cliff into the water at a swimming area known as Touchet Cliff.

KONA reports he was knocked unconscious, and other swimmers were not able to save him.

The Walla Walla County sheriff’s office says the death appears accidental.
