SHELTON, Wash. (AP) — Searchers looking for a missing boater found his body in the water near Harstine Island, which is east of Shelton.

Mason County sheriff’s Chief Deputy Dean Byrd says deputies recovered the body about 7 a.m. Thursday after it was spotted by a Coast Guard helicopter.

The body of the 67-year-old Union man was about three-fourths of a mile from where his boat was found running about 2:30 a.m. Thursday in Case Inlet.

The man’s wallet, keys and cell phone were on the boat. He had failed to return Wednesday evening to Jarrell’s Cove Marina on Harstine Island.

Byrd says the man did not have a known medical condition. He had been repairing the boat.
