A Vancouver woman was examined for neck and back injuries Thursday morning after her vehicle was rear-ended on state Highway 500, according to a state patrol bulletin.

Resha Layton, 25, of Vancouver was driving a Jeep Liberty westbound when it was struck from behind shortly before 8 a.m. She had come to a stop near Stapleton Road due to heavy traffic. She was transported to Southwest Washington Medical Center.

David Fennig, 22, of La Center was cited for speeding, according to the bulletin. His Mitsubishi Galant sedan was totaled after it struck the back of Layton’s SUV. He was not injured.

The damage to Layton’s SUV was estimated at about $1,000.
