KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Police say University of Tennessee incoming freshman receiver Da’Rick Rogers was arrested and six other people were being questioned after a brawl at a bar near the Knoxville campus.

Police spokesman Darrell DeBusk told The Associated Press that an off-duty Knoxville police officer who tried to break up the fight, Robert Capouellez, was knocked unconscious during the brawl early Friday. He’s being treated for a head injury.

DeBusk said the officer was hit in the head and knocked to the ground, then kicked several times. It was not clear who hit the officer.

DeBusk said some of the others detained may be associated with the university’s football program. Tennessee athletic officials did not immediately return a phone message Friday morning.
