Davis Cup: Serbia 2, Croatia 1

SPLIT, Croatia (AP) — Nenad Zimonjic and Janko Tipsarevic have given Serbia a 2-1 lead in the Davis Cup quarterfinal match against Croatia.

The Serbs beat Marin Cilic and Ivan Dodik 6-3, 6-2, 6-4 Saturday in the doubles on a hard court at Spaladium Arena in Split.

Led by top doubles player Zimonjic, the Serb duo controlled the match and lost serve only once.

In Friday’s singles matches, second-ranked Novak Djokovic beat Ivan Ljubicic of Croatia 7-6 (3), 6-4, 6-1 and Cilic defeated Serbia’s Viktor Troicki 6-4, 7-5, 6-2.

The two countries, formerly part of Yugoslavia, have never met in the Davis Cup. Reverse singles are played on Sunday.
