Hoff, Kitajima set meet records at LA Grand Prix

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Olympian Katie Hoff has set a meet record in winning the 400-meter freestyle at the Los Angeles Grand Prix.

Hoff touched in 4 minutes, 6.21 seconds on Saturday night, nearly three seconds faster than the old record of 4:09.04 set by Claudia Poll of Costa Rica in 2000.

Hoff was more than three seconds quicker than Olympian Kate Ziegler, who finished second in 4:09.44. Alexa Komarnycky of Canada was third in 4:10.97. Ziegler won the 800 free Friday on the Southern California campus.
