The Skamania County Sheriff’s Office released no information Saturday about the identity or condition of a 14-year-old boy who became trapped on a rock Friday at Dougan Falls on the Washougal River, 17 miles northeast of the city of Washougal.

Witnesses described onlookers holding the boy’s head above water for more than an hour before he could be pulled free and airlifted to Southwest Washington Medical Center in Vancouver. A witness said the boy appeared unconscious after a large group of swimmers finally used a rope to dislodge his leg from the rocks.

A Skamania County sheriff’s dispatcher said Chief Criminal Deputy Pat Bond was out of the office until Monday, and no one else was in a position to release information.
