WYNNE, Ark. (AP) — Prosecutors are still deciding whether to seek the death penalty in their case against a man charged in the bludgeoning death of an elderly woman inside a church in Arkansas’ Cross County.
At a Monday arraignment in Wynne, Ark., Cross County Circuit Judge Olly Neal Jr. set Sept. 20 for 34-year-old Rene Patrick Bourassa Jr.’s next court appearance. Bourassa was arrested in Bremerton, Wash., on June 10, four days after the attack on 80-year-old Lillian Wilson at the Central United Methodist Church on U.S. Highway 64.
The Jonesboro Sun newspaper reports Bourassa has been charged with capital murder, aggravated robbery, commercial burglary, fraudulent use of a credit card and property theft. He’s held without bail and is being represented by the state public defender’s office.
