Before I get rambling on and forget about last month, let’s review some rainfall for June from your friends and neighbors around the region for June. I recorded 5.22 inches thanks in part to a couple of very heavy showers that nailed me on June 10 and 15, not to mention the 1.91 inches that drenched us on June 6th. Okay, the rest of the best includes: Gary Collins, Brush Prairie, 6.27 inches; Murphy Dennis, near Clark County Rifles, 7.85 inches; Claudia Chiasson, Carson, 6.94 inches; Tyler Mode, Minnehaha, 3.30 inches; Judy Darke, Felida, 3.82 inches; Larry Lebsack, Northeast Hazel Dell, 4.93 inches; Irv St. Germain, Southwest Prune Hill, 5.93 inches; Pete Conrad, Battle Ground, 4.29 inches; Robin Ruzek, Lakeshore, 4.12 inches; Dan Hein, Camas, 6.85 inches; Phil Delany, above Dole Valley, 10.40 inches; Chuck Houghten, Hockinson Heights, 6.89 inches; Phil Harris, Washougal, 7.02 inches; Jim Knoll, Orchards, 5.42 inches; Bill Sobolewski, Livingston Mountain, 7.90 inches; Nancy Ellifrit, Mt. Vista, 4.80 inches; Tom Dixon, Amboy, 5.40 inches; Merle Moore, two miles west of Yacolt; 6.78 inches; Sandy Nesvick, east Vancouver, 5.60 inches; and Ellen Smart, Ridgefield, 4.50 inches.

Most reports for June were heavier than the month of May and were more representative of one of the rainy winter months. Hein reported that his 6.85 inches was second only to 6.90 inches measured in 1984. Chuck Houghten commented: “We had 6.89 of rain in June — it was a rugged one indeed. Our family of weather enthusiasts were even struggling this month, by far the wettest June for my 17 years of records.” In his e-mail, he bid me, “Take care and have a great summer, no matter what the weather gods throw at us!” Isn’t that the truth? Thanks Chuck!

Enjoy your week; summer weather returns Wednesday.
