Celebrating its 20th anniversary last year, Washington State University Vancouver established two Community Awards of Distinction to honor a person or organization making a significant regional contribution.

WSUV again seeks nominations for this year’s annual awards, in two categories:

• Community Partnership: Demonstrated commitment to local partnerships, prosperity, vitality and overall well-being within Southwest Washington and greater Portland.

• Equality, Diversity and Inclusion: Exceptional achievement that has broadly helped equity, diversity and inclusion within WSUV territory.

Anyone may submit a nomination: a 500-word (maximum) essay that explains the nominee’s value to community, length of service or effort, long-term sustainability and breadth of reach, advocacy and impact (for the Partnership award, describe leadership and collaboration merits).

Nomination forms are online at: http://www.vancouver.wsu.edu/community/community-award-distinction. Submissions are due by 5 p.m. Aug. 20. Finished forms may be sent to the Office of Development and Alumni Relations, WSUV, 14204 N. Salmon Creek Ave., Vancouver, WA 98686; e-mailed to lea_pfau@vancouver.wsu.edu; or faxed to 360-546-9079.

Questions should be directed to Lea Pfau at 360-546-9600. Winners will be selected by a committee of WSUV staff, faculty and community members. The awards will be presented at the school’s Scholarship and Service Dinner on Oct. 5.

Winners in 2009 were June Vining, executive director of the Trauma Intervention Program of Portland/Vancouver, Inc. (for Community Partnership) and the puppet group Kids on the Block.
