ST. LOUIS (AP) — The St. Louis Cardinals and general manager John Mozeliak have agreed to a three-year contract extension, which will be announced at a news conference Thursday.
The 40-year-old Mozeliak was hired as GM in 2007 after Walt Jocketty was dismissed at the conclusion of that season. Jocketty is now general manager of Cincinnati, the team the Cardinals are chasing in the NL Central.
Mozeliak’s big move so far was last season’s acquisition of outfielder Matt Holliday from Oakland, and signing Holliday during the offseason to a seven-year deal.
