OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) — Democrat Denny Heck is still way ahead of the fundraising crowd in his campaign for the seat of retiring Rep. Brian Baird.

Heck, a former state representative who founded the TVW network, says he’s raised $280,000 in the last three months, and added $100,000 of his own money. Heck says he has more than $800,000 in the bank. He announced the updated numbers Thursday ahead of his official filing on the campaign finance deadline.

Republican Jaime Herrera, of Camas, says she raised more than $180,000 during that same time period and has about $200,000 on hand. Republican David Castillo, a former chief of staff to the state House GOP caucus who also worked in the Bush administration, is also in the race for Washington’s 3rd Congressional District.
