TACOMA, Wash. (AP) — The cab of an empty fuel tanker caught fire and burned dramatically late Thursday afternoon on Interstate 5 in Tacoma, shutting down freeway traffic during the afternoon rush hour.

There were no reports of injuries. State Transportation Department spokeswoman Jamie Holter confirms the fuel tank was empty.

A man who answered the phone in the Seattle office of Lee & Eastes confirmed it was a company tanker but refused to give his name or answer other questions. The company’s website says it transports bulk commodities in 11 Western States.

Tacoma Fire Department spokeswoman Faith Mueller says firefighters will help remove the disabled tanker.
