Bass club meets July 22

CLACKAMAS, Ore. — The Oregon Bass and Panfish Club will meet at 7:30 p.m. July 22 at Camp Withycomb, 10101 S.E. Clackamas Road, Building 6100.

Guest speakers will be Curt Melcher, deputy director of the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife, and Mark Schoenborn, a trooper in the Fish and Wildlife Division of the Oregon State Police.

Melcher will explain how to get changes in warm-water fishing regulations approved. Schoenborn will give tips on reporting fish and wildlife violations.

Institute offers hike series

A series of guided Sunday hikes will be offered this summer by the Mount St. Helens Institute.

The schedule includes Lava Canyon, 5.9 miles, on July 25; Ape Canyon, 8.1 miles, on Aug. 8, and Siouxon Creek, 7.8 miles on Aug. 22.

The hikes are designed for persons age 14 and older. The cost is $10 per person.

Family-oriented hikes will offered to Ape Cave, 3 miles, on July 30; June Lake, 3 miles, on Aug. 13, and Lava Canyon, 3 miles, on Aug. 27. The price is $10 per person.
