TACOMA, Wash. (AP) — Police say a 2-year-old Tacoma girl who was taken to a hospital Wednesday night with shaking and beating injuries has died.

Det. Gretchen Aguirre (ah-GEER’-ee) says the 25-year-old father beat the girl because he was frustrated she wouldn’t eat.

He was arrested for investigation of assault, and with the death Thursday, Aguirre says he may face a homicide charge.

The father had called 911. Paramedics took the child to Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital in Tacoma where she died.
