4 die on water in Portland area

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Four people died in the water over the hot weekend in the Portland area.

The Oregonian reports a 4-year-old boy drowned Saturday at Rooster Rock State Park in the Columbia River Gorge. He’s identified by the Multnomah County medical examiner’s office as Ameen Abood.

The Columbia County sheriff’s office says a medical emergency took the life of a 14-year-old boy who was swimming Saturday at a Sauvie Island beach.

On Friday the body of a man wearing a diving suit was found in the Columbia River in Portland.

Also on Friday a man was paddling on a board in the Willamette River near the Sellwood Bridge when his wife lost sight of him and called for help. His body was recovered by Portland Fire and Rescue.
