OSU grad to be one of first women on Navy sub

CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) — A graduating Oregon State University student is set to become one of the first 19 women to serve on a Navy submarine.

The Navy in April lifted a ban on women serving on submarines, and Erienne Kriesch was selected as one of the pioneers.

The 23-year-old enlisted in the Navy five years ago, initially pursuing a program in nuclear reactor mechanics.
